Oenogastronomic Itinerary in Piedmont
Piedmont produces not only wine, but extra-virgin olive oil as well!
Three centuries ago an epidemic destroyed many vineyards so local farmers decided to plant olive trees. Today, although some trees remain, wine vineyards rule the landscape once again.
Morning: Transfer to Monferrato with an In-Piemonte English-speaking guide and driver. Meeting with a well-known local producer of extra-virgin olive oil. Walk in the olive grove and visit to the production floor followed by a tasting of some culinary specialties made with olives. Lunch at a local Trattoria with a traditional menu.
Afternoon: Visit to an artisan Bottificio, a workshop that manufactures and toasts the oak casks and “barriques” for top national and international wineries. Transfer to Castagnole Monferrato to attend a wine tasting in a prestigious winery. Return to accommodation and end of In-Piemonte services.
